why species was selected
Even though the vernal pool tadpole shrimp has a wide geographic distribution is uncommon where it is found. The largest current threat to vernal pool tadpole shrimp is continued development in the Central Valley. Due to the concerns over habitat loss the vernal pool tadpole shrimp was listed as federally endangered in 1994.
