Gila orcutti (Arroyo Chub)
about the species
Arroyo Chub are minnows native to coastal drainages of southern California. While there are robust populations transplanted outside their native range, most populations in their historical range are threatened or have been extirpated due to land use change (e.g. urbanization, barriers to migration), climate change, and species introductions.
why species was selected
Genomic data will enable us to map the distributions of relevant conservation units with respect to geography and habitat and select candidate populations for reintroductions in their native range.
